Frequently asked questions

Additional information

If I use a credit line, how much interest will be charged?

No interest is charged on the amount used from the Birbank Star credit line if you repay it on time.

Example:

If you spend 500 AZN on September 1 and repay the full amount by September 30, no interest or usage fee will be charged.

If you only repay 300 AZN by September 30, the remaining 200 AZN will not incur interest. However, you will need to pay a 10 AZN usage fee between October 1–10.

If I withdraw cash or make a transfer from the credit line, what commission will be charged?

A 1% (min. 1 AZN) commission is applied for cash withdrawals, transfers, or credit payments via the Birbank Star card’s credit line. This commission is added to the principal debt, and the monthly usage fee is calculated based on the total debt.

Example:

If you withdraw 500 AZN, your total debt will be 505 AZN (500 AZN principal + 5 AZN commission). If you repay the total debt by the last calendar day of this month, you won’t have to pay anything extra. If this is not repaid by the end of the month, a 20 AZN usage fee will be applied.

Is there a grace period for the amount I used from the credit line?

Yes. If you repay the full amount used from the credit line by the end of the month, no interest or usage fee is applied. However, for cash withdrawals, transfers, and credit payments, a 1% (min. 1 AZN) commission is applied immediately, regardless of the grace period. If debt between 1–500 AZN is not fully repaid by the end of the month, a 10 AZN usage fee is charged from the 1st to 10th of the next month.

Example:

If you spend 400 AZN via POS on September 1 and don’t repay it by the end of the month, you must pay a 10 AZN usage fee between October 1–10.

If you withdraw 5,000 AZN on September 1, a 1% (50 AZN) fee is charged immediately. If you repay only 4,400 AZN by the end of the month, a 20 AZN usage fee will also apply for the remaining 650 AZN between October 1–10.

How is the minimum monthly payment calculated?

The minimum monthly payment for Birbank Star may consist only of the usage fee.

This fee is fixed and applies if the credit line is not fully repaid by the end of the month: 10 AZN for each 1–500 AZN debt is carried over.

When should minimum monthly payments be made?

From the 1st to the 10th of each month. If the 10th falls on a non-working day, payment can be made on the next business day.

Example:

If you withdraw 1,200 AZN on January 12 and only repay 500 AZN by the end of the month, a 20 AZN fee will apply for the remaining 712 AZN and must be paid between February 1–10\. If February 10 falls on a Sunday, the payment can be made on February 11.

The monthly payment for the Birbank Star card is considered settled on the same day if made by 19:00.

Payments made before 19:00 are considered as paid on the same day. To avoid a usage fee, credit debt must be repaid by 23:59 on the last calendar day of the month.

How do I make payments?

You can repay the amount spent with the Birbank Star card or pay the monthly usage fee through the Birbank app, on the websites kapitalbank.az and birbank.az, as well as at Kapital Bank payment terminals and those of other providers.

What happens if I don’t make the minimum monthly payment on time?

The monthly fee must be paid between the 1st and 10th of each month. If not paid, it is considered as a delay. If that delay exceeds 10 days, the credit line is blocked on day 11 and reactivated once the debt is cleared. If the monthly fee is delayed more than 10 days three times, the credit line is permanently deactivated. The remaining debt will be divided into equal monthly payments with a 27% annual interest rate.

If, during the term of the credit line, the monthly payment is overdue by more than 10 days on three separate occasions, the credit line will be canceled, and the remaining debt will be divided into equal monthly payments at an annual interest rate of 27% until the end of the contract term.

Example:

If you withdraw 100 AZN on January 1, 2023, and do not repay it by the end of the month, you must pay 10 AZN between February 1–10\. If unpaid by February 20, the limit will be blocked on February 21.

How long can I use the credit limit?

The validity period of the Birbank Star card is 5 years, whereas the usage period of its credit line is 36 months.

After 36 months, the remaining debt is divided into equal monthly annuity payments with an annual interest rate of 27% until the contract expiration date.

Example:

Suppose you have obtained the Birbank Star card on January 1, 2023\. In this case, you can use the credit line until the end of December 2025\. At the end of this period, if according to the bank’s internal rules a new credit line can be issued, you will be able to use it again for another 36 months. If opening a new credit line is not possible, the remaining debt on the credit line will be divided into equal monthly annuity payments until the contract expiration date.

If I have an installment card or a cash loan from Kapital Bank, can I get a Birbank Star card?

Yes, you can get a Birbank Star card regardless of which Kapital Bank product you already have.

If I add my own money to the card, will I be charged a commission for spending it?

Each month, you can transfer up to 10,000 ₼ of your personal funds from any of your Birbank cards to cards of other local banks or withdraw this amount from our ATMs — all without commission.

The monthly limit is set individually for each customer. You can find your personal limit in the “Expenses limit” section of the Birbank app.

When cashing out personal funds at ATMs of other banks within the country, a commission of 2 AZN/USD/EUR will be charged, regardless of the amount.

Free transfers from personal funds to local bank cards are available via the Birbank app and our bank’s ATMs.
